Suit up!

It was my birthday this week, and thanks to my stud companion Elder Ludlow I got a birthday cake! I kind of destroyed it with the first bite though...

This week has been pretty neat though. It went by super fast, and some parts have been hard but it's been a good week. We haven't met with a ton of our investigators because they all want to make appointments way in the future. We'll work on it. Also nobody is ever home! Holy cow I can't believe how often people just aren't there when we drop by. Anyways, we did have a cool experience while knocking doors out here. A few weeks ago we dropped by a lady that told Elder Nelson and Elder Ludlow that they could come back. Well her daughter answered this time cause she was visiting and said that her mom wasn't quite there and that we shouldn't take what she says seriously. We started talking her at the door though and she said that although her mom couldn't really be interested that she herself had investigated the church a while ago and met with missionaries. We asked her if we could talk to her instead but she wasn't willing and lived somewhere else. Well we knock a lot here in Silkeborg so she could run but she couldn't hide! We found the house that she lives in yesterday! We were somewhere completely different Haha it was weird I knocked and when she opened up I could of sworn I'd seen her before. Anyway, after relizing we'd talked before she said she'd be happy to listen to us now. Kind of a neat little coincidence and I'm stoked she's willing this time, maybe it was just the timing, maybe it was the irony of finding her again, maybe it was just dumb luck and it will go nowhere but I felt like it was neat and that maybe this time when she talks to missionaries it will be different! Just a testimony to me that we are where we are for a reason! No matter where you are there's almost always someone close to you that could use a bit of Christ's love! Just an uplifting compliment, a smile, a friendly gesture, a thought about the gospel, really that's all it takes. We are where we are for a reason. So make the best of it :)
So we had a really cool Zone Conference this week, I had to sit there while everyone sang me the Danish happy birthday song alone cause nobody else in my zone had a birthday in January :(
But it's ok cause I treated myself to a ridiculously nice Bertoni suit that I bought in Århus after! I love it! It's way tight and this is the only picture I have of it so it might not do it justice...

But I'm way happy and I'm gonna wear it to Christina's baptism on Saturday cause SHE'S GETTING BAPTIZED!
This is a woman me and Elder Merrill found back in my Odense days. We committed her to baptism together about a week or so before I left and she's stuck to it, quit smoking, probably doesn't believe in reincarnation anymore (I'm hoping) and is excited to get baptized into Christs church! This will be the first person I feel that I've really been a part of that has gotten baptized. I was present for Davids baptism about four weeks into my mission but I never taught him before he had made that decision. I got to see almost the whole process with Christina and I'm so happy for her! I will most definitely send a pic next week! I get to travel back to Odense and see everyone again and be a witness during the baptism itself, can it get much better than that?
The message our mission has decided to focus on is that we are Deciples of Christ. So remember that. All you that follow in His footsteps and are a part of His church represent something special! Sometimes I forget that. But that's the message our president had for us, so thought I'd pass it along. I love you all a ton and have missed you a lot this week! Whenever I have cool things happen here it just makes me a little bit more sad that I don't get to share them with all my friends and family. But hey, just remember me and all the adventures I'm having out here. Denmark is pretty cool.

All the time I'm spending out here will be worth it. I'm gaining ground on my goal to help bring a family the joy of the gospel. Nothing big yet, but we have two or three that we get to teach now which is such an incredibly huge blessing to me :) So enjoy the fact that most of you already have the blessing of being part of a family that is built on solid ground, because that's where we need to be building the rest of our lives. I keep a book now of all the dumbest excuses I've heard from people that they have used to prevent themselves from gaining happiness. One lady told me she had already learned everything she needed to know and was therefore not included in the people that needed our help. Please never have that mindset.
Jeg elsker jer, have en god liv og husk til at aldrig holde op med at forbedre jeres selv!

Ældste Durrant
